Recently, PME Power Systems Group welcomed Freddie Chalk for a day of work experience, creating a special moment for the business as three generations of the Chalk family came together under one roof.
As the son of Operations Director Ben Chalk and Lucy Chalk Parts Department and grandson of Managing Director Pete Chalk and Commercial Director Jade Chalk, Freddie spent the day gaining an insight into what goes into running the UK & Ireland importer for MAN Marine Engines. From learning about engineering and operations to seeing how different departments work together, it was an opportunity to experience the many roles that keep the business and its customers moving.
Family has always been at the heart of PME. Alongside Pete, Ben and Jade, Freddie’s aunts, Vicki, who leads Human Resources, and Chloe, who works within our warrenty department, also play important roles within the business. Together, they represent the generations of experience, knowledge and commitment that continue to shape PME today.
Although Freddie currently has his sights set on a career in forensic science, spending time in a working engineering business offered a valuable glimpse into an industry that many people rarely see. Whether it’s importing marine engines, supporting customers through our aftersales team or keeping vessels operating safely and efficiently, every role plays a part in keeping the marine industry moving.
The visit comes as PME prepares to celebrate 30 years of working with MAN this December, making it a fitting reminder of the family values, long-term relationships and shared commitment that have been at the heart of the business for three decades.
Thank you to Freddie for spending the day with us. We hope he enjoyed seeing behind the scenes at PME, and we wish him every success as he pursues his future career.
